Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.
There is nothing quite like a battery failing in the carbon dioxide monitor at 1:40am to awaken you. No it wasn’t going off, just incessantly and quite immaturely chirping at me to replace its power source.
It would not be denied.
So after satisfying its little craving I curled back into the rack and the TV was on James Robinson. He was interviewing a jovial Pastor who was sharing about a time in his life when he had the chance to be the "answer".
He shared a story of when he was in a Wal-Mart line behind a single mom and her little boy.
It must have been close to Halloween because the costumes were out. They caught this little youngster’s eye and he immediately began to do his best to draw mom’s attention to them as well.
The Pastor shared that this little fella kept reminding his mom that he was Batman by repeating over and over again the line from the film, “I’m Batman”. He wanted a Batman costume because HE WAS Batman!
But his mother after stooping down to chat with him sadly reported that they didn’t have the money for that today. Even though the costume was a mere 7 dollars, she was using ALL the money they had for the little bit of groceries on the lane. She told her son that she would craft him the best of costumes when they got home and the little boy though disappointed saw the love in his mommas eyes and told her that was okay.
The mom and the boy finished checking out and headed to the parking lot.
When the Pastor got up to pay for his goods he noticed the tears in the Wal-Mart cashier’s eyes. She went on to say that wasn’t the first time “something like that” had come through her aisle.
Moved, the Pastor asked the cashier to dash to the display, grab the Batman costume and scan it. The Pastor then moved quickly to the parking lot where he stopped the mom and told her, “You left this bag behind”. In it of course was “BATMAN”.
The mom was wrecked.
Tears streamed down her cheeks.
Through her cracking voice she told the Pastor, “I was silently praying that God would allow me to get that for my boy. And now here you are ‘THE ANSWER to MY PRAYER.’”
Well that wrecked the Pastor. And if you watch James Robinson at all you know it wrecked him. No dry eyes and one blessed mom and boy.
But the Pastor made this point. We never know when GOD is going to enlist us to be the answer to someone’s prayer.
…if you have a heart, if you care— then do me a favor: … Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead…Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand. – from Philippians 2:2-4 (MSG)
Blessed is the person that takes the time to heal and hear another person so they can move on.” - Alder
A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal. - Maraboli
Perhaps we will be given that assignment today; to be the answer to someone’s prayer.
The question is:
Are we available?
Are we in tune with those around us?
Are we too consumed with “us” to notice?
Are we “ready to RESPOND?”
For Jesus implores us,
Luke 12:29 (MSG)
“What I’m trying to do here is get you to relax (&) not be so preoccupied with getting so you can RESPOND…”
Maybe respond today as the answer to someone’s prayer?
When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed. ― Maya Angelou
Will you be an answer today?
I love you all!
Be blessed!
