"Adding on"

Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
ARE YOU SEEKING?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.
“If you can't fly then run, if you can't run then walk, if you can't walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.” Martin Luther King Jr.
2 Peter 1:5-8 NIV
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Build on “it”. Keep moving forward. Keep that “spirit stirring”.
Here is why... we are called to do so!
Romans 15:4
…God wants the combination of his steady, constant calling and warm, personal counsel in Scripture to come to characterize us, keeping us alert for whatever he will do next. May our dependably steady and warmly personal God develop maturity in you…
So no time like the present to start“building ourselves up.”
Take a close look at that verse from 1 Peter. It says “make every effort toADD TO”. That implies to “continue”, to press on, to progress and to build upon!
What God is saying is for us to guard against “stagnation”in our faith because he knows stagnation is a real killer.
Think about a body of water for a minute. If left to “just sit”, no movement, no current, no “stirring” what happens to it? Bacteria collects, fungi appears on the surface, the water stagnates and then what was once a beautiful pond turns ugly.
The same is true for our spirit.
If we are not ADDING to our faith or constantly stirring our spirit with the WORD, prayer, praise we too can become stagnant. And that is something we clearly don’t want.
That is why we need to “keep adding”goodness, knowledge, self control, kindness and most importantly love because these are the characteristics of Christ.
I mean come on, why wouldn’t we want these traits to be prevalent in our makeup or to define our personality and character?
Indeed, as we walk with Christ, trusting him, we will continue to grow in these areas and our walk and recovery will be infinitely more effective!
So let’s get to the "adding on" shall we?
Pray with me today...
Lord, help me to grow in goodness … knowledge … self-control …perseverance … godliness … brotherly kindness … and love. Make my life more effective and productive in ways that honor and please you. In Jesus’ name …
I love you all.
Have a blessed day.
