TIME FOR OTHERS

Have you thanked Him?

Have you praised Him?

Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?

Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?

1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)

1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.

What is on your plate for today?

Got you’re "to do" list out? How’s it looking?

Work? School? A little time at the gym? Meetings? Get the kids from A to B?

It is true our plates are generally pretty full aren’t they? There is always lots and lots to DO that is for sure. C.S. Lewis describes this “to do” deluge this way…

“It comes the very moment you wake up each morning. All your wishes and hopes for the day rush at you like wild animals….”

But is there anything on that to do list about “helping or serving”another today?

Why do I ask, because GOD asked us to remember something as we parse today list of to do’s. He reminds us that...

1 Corinthians 10:23-24
We are allowed to do anything, but not everything is good for us to do. We are allowed to do anything, but not all things help us grow strong as Christians. 24 Do not work only for your own good. Think of what you can do for others.

I know!
Sometimes those WORDS FROM GOD aren't so easily swallowed are they?
So let's pull out that to do list again and give it a good “once over”. Is there anything on there that might hinder your walk with Jesus?

Are there any activities that could be REPLACED with something to help you grow stronger in CHRIST?

GOD does give us amazing FREEDOM with our time doesn’t He? He also gives us unparalleled FREEDOM as to what to do with that time doesn’t He?

But He also has made it clear as to what to do with that time. And He makes it clear that some of our time needs to be dedicated to the service of someone else.

So I want to encourage you today. What is on that list that could be replaced with doing something for someone else?
Need an idea or two?
How about while you are making a meal for you and the family, throw a little extra in the pot and drop it at shut-in’s home.
Got to go the store? Give a call over to a shelter and see if anyone needs a ride there to? Give a local charity a call and see if you could donate a morning to folding some clothes or organizing some diapers. Arrange to sit down with your church administrator and maybe answer the phone for an hour or two to give them a chance to catch up.

The options are only limited by your creativity!
And trust me, GOD wouldn’t have asked us so plainly to serve others if there wasn’t something amazing for us as well!

Proverbs 11:25

The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped.

I love you all!
