IN HIS WILL

Have you thanked Him?

Have you praised Him?

Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?

Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?

The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.

 

Living in God’s Wisdom

15–16 So be very careful how you live, not being like those with no understanding, but live honorably with true wisdom, for we are living in evil times. Take full advantage of every day as you spend your life for his purposes. 17 And don’t live foolishly for then you will have discernment to fully understand God’s will. – Ephesians 5:15-17 (TPT)

 

Over the last 6 or 8 weeks or so I have had the honor of spending some time with Darryl Strawberry and his lovely wife Tracy.  For my millennials and non-sports folks, Darryl was an 8-time All-Star and 4-time WORLD CHAMP while playing for the METS and YANKEES in the 80’s and 90’s. 

He had “it all”; fame, fortune, and limitless possibilities.

 

Yet brokenness, addiction, hurt, and selfishness drove him to 3 million dollars in debt, lost to the world in a drug house aching to “just die”.

 

But for GOD.

 

There is so much to Darryl’s story.  There is his rescue by his now amazing bride Tracy.  There is his restoration.  There is his calling and anointing.  I would encourage you to attend one of our Epidemic of Hope (check local listings) events to get the full story.

 

But what I wanted to share was something that Darryl has said to EVERY audience we have been with in recent weeks.

 

To paraphrase, “There is nothing like operating in the WILL of GOD.”

 

Darryl has found his stride, his purpose, and his calling in HELPING others find FREEDOM from addiction, selfishness, and brokenness. And while that is wonderful in and of itself, DARRYL also INTENSELY encourages our audiences that getting clean and sober is NOT the “end game” rather WALKING in the WILL of GOD is the true GOAL.

 

For it is when we are in the WILL of GOD we find our PURPOSE and our ASSIGNMENT and that quite simply is to SHARE GOD and SERVE others.

 

That is why I love this passage from Ephesians so much.

It fits this mandate. 

It is CLEAR in its direction.

 

SEEK the WILL of GOD and HIS WISDOM for EACH day!

Take FULL advantage of TODAY’S opportunities to SERVE GOD and OTHERS, to LIVE according to the PURPOSE of GOD for YOU!!!

 

Don’t waste time on FOOLISH things.

Don’t burn cycles on things that don’t matter.

Instead FIX your ATTENTION on what GOD is doing and then JOIN HIM in THAT! The way to life—to God! —is vigorous and requires total attention. 

Matthew 7:34 (MSG)

 

So here we are at the THRESHOLD of another day.

How will you live it?

Will you GIVE GOD your full attention? 

Will you choose to EXPERIENCE HIS will for the day?
