Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.
Today is Samantha’s 17th birthday.
I know, wow huh?
Sadly I missed the moment she was born. It was 1995 and all we had were some OLD BRICK style cell-phones and pocket pagers back then. I was "on the road" in the mountains of Virginia when Sam showed up. You see, Sam was not supposed to be born until Halloween, but as we would later come to learn, Sammie works on “SammieTime” and that was right from the start.
But if you know me and you know my family, this year, this 2012 campaign for Sammie has been almost as tumultuous and challenging as making it to her first breath.
There has been incredible pressure.
There has been some grunting and groaning.
There have been some tears of pain followed by some tears of relief.
Truth is, Sammie has had a rebirth of sort in 2012. She has emerged from a really dark place racked with depression and anxieties into a new light of hope and possibilities, and I am so grateful to the GOD who offers to all of us light out of darkness. He’s been doing that for thousands of years.
Isaiah 9:2
The people who walked in darkness have seen a great Light; those who dwelt in the land of intense darkness and the shadow of death, upon them has the Light shined.
Truth is we all experience dark patches as we make this journey. And while I don’t want to go “all serious” this morning with the DISPATCH, I do want to just pause and encourage all of us to “seek the light”.
GOD’s light is eternal. GOD’s light is warming. GOD’s light is comforting and assuring. GOD’s light attracts and enlightens. GOD’s light heals.
Yet so often we think by remaining in the dark, stuck with our secrets and our fears, that we are “better off” somehow. That can’t be further from the truth.
In GOD’s light we can see Him changing us.
In GOD’s light we can see Him molding us.
In GOD’s light we can see Him LOVING us.
Psalm 36:7-9
How exquisite your love, O God! How eager we are to run under your wings, To eat our fill at the banquet you spread as you fill our tankards with Eden spring water. You’re a fountain of cascading light, and you open our eyes to light.
How beautiful is that passage? A FOUNTAIN OF CASCADING LIGHT. A basking deluge of love, acceptance, peace and hope!
That is the light of GOD my DISPATCH buddies!
It is a light of love!
So step into it today! It is warm, it is welcoming and it is wondrous!
Psalms 136:6
The God who filled the skies with light, His love never quits.
I love you all.
