Have you thanked Him?

Everything God does is right - the trademark on all his works is love. God's there, listening for all who pray, for all who pray and mean it. He does what's best for those who fear him - hears them call out, and saves them.  

God sticks by all who love him…

I had a good friend seeking prayer and encouragement today; 5am in fact.  She is in the middle of a very complex, long running custody challenge. And when I say challenge, I mean challenge from all sides; many players and many layers.

So, as I was contemplating what to say, I was reminded of this little passage from the Psalms, a Psalm from David.

Go back and give it a quick read again. I’ll wait…

Isn’t that a refreshing reminder?

GOD is listening to ALL who pray and mean it.

Think about that for just a second. 

3 million+ are without power today in Florida.  GOD is listening to those most meaningful prayers.

Many more are still struggling to get upright in Texas.

GOD is listening.

Others are dealing with the "yearly flood" of painful memories of 9/11 and GOD is listening to them too.

And yet there are those who are dealing with things like my struggling foster folks or situations like the Facebook message this morning regarding a man deep in the throws of addiction who is ignoring help and support from those who love him.

Yet isn’t it so good to know GOD is not only listening, but GOD hears and GOD is about the promise of DOING WHAT IS BEST?  

That GOD’s trademark is love?  

That GOD’s trademark is doing what is RIGHT? 

That He hears, responds, saves and sticks!

I really like that last part.

GOD is not only the universe’s champion multi-tasker, but after He intervenes He remains for the long haul, continuing to listen, continuing to respond, continuing to comfort, continuing to guide, continuing to do the BEST.

All we are asked to do is PRAY.

Prayer lets God do what he does best. Take a pebble & kill a Goliath. Take the common, make it spectacular!

Let’s pray.

Like most mornings, I don’t have much insight as to what you are challenged by today.  For some of you I do and if that is a good sample then praying seems like the best start, middle and finish for this day (and everyday).

pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God – 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 (ESV)
