ELEVATED DAY

Have you thanked Him?

Have you praised Him?

Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?

Early yesterday I was blessed to do my best to shed to some light on the current drug challenge with some dear folks from East Dayton Christian Church.  I was a part of a panel of “experts”, in other words, some folks who had been on the other side of recovery for a time and had found their way back. 

And one of the questions the audience raised was 

“How do you stay sober”.

I was happy to hear from my new friend to my left.

He said that each day, before his day got too far along, he was in his word, his BIG BOOK, and his prayer.  He made an interesting comment, he said that it was necessary for him to put himself, his thoughts, and his plans on an “ELEVATED PLANE” and carry GOD'S VISION for him or the day would quick dissolve into his “less than elevated” ideas and plan.

I really liked that.

Immediately brought this little verse to mind. 

Matthew 5:6 (ESV)

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.

I like the way the ERV translates it too.

Great blessings belong to those who want to do right more than anything else. 

God will fully satisfy them.

That paints a great picture, doesn’t it?

Great blessings and satisfaction are there if we pursue “rightness”! 

And what better time is there than to do that first thing in the day?

This same fella said that if he didn’t take that time to set his mind on things above, to be hungry in the morning, that his “battery” was subject to a little corrosion and if too much corrosion built up, then his ability to effectively “start” would be diminished.

I think his and Furtick’s thoughts and words are good counsel.

Let’s ALL SEIZE GOD’S ELEVATED vision for us today!

Let’s activate our faith with time in the WORD and in prayer, kicking off any corrosion along the way!

And then let’s make our move!

Let’s seize this day!
