SEIZE LIFE

Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.

When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive – to breathe, to think, to enjoy, to love. - Marcus Aurelius

“Jesus said, ‘No procrastination. No backward looks. You can’t put God... off till tomorrow. Seize the day.’” (Luke 9:62 MSG)

Today began at 4:00am with a call from a distraught mom.
Her son is in Hospice and her words were "they called us and today is likely the day”.  That is no way for a momma to be shaken from her sleep. And as we talked on the phone she was desperate to GET to HIM on time.  And as we were praying that she make it to be with him as well as for her comfort and safety, I was again reminded how precious our time truly is.

(BTW I just received the text that she is there by his side...pray for CB, KB and the family today)

Yet life and our time are precious.
We need to SEIZE them as Jesus said.
We need to embrace them.  They are fragile indeed.

Case in point, just yesterday one of the staff Pastors at AHOP, my home church, was called to preach the funeral of one taken by addiction.  She too was so young; her time shortened.  It too was a sobering reminder of our fragility.

…you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while... (James 4:14 NIV)

Seize the day!

I don’t intend to be a downer.  I don't.
No, I share this this morning rather to encourage each of us to be reminded of the fragility of life and to embrace and be grateful for it; to SEIZE it!

This little poem was posted in my Grandma Clara’s house for as long as I can remember.

“The clock of life is wound but once,
And no man has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop
At late or early hour.

To lose one's wealth is sad indeed,
To lose one's health is more,
To lose one's soul is such a loss
That no man can restore.

The present only is our own,
So live, love, toil with a will,
Place no faith in "Tomorrow,"
For the Clock may then be still.” ― Robert H. Smith

Lucado says it this way...
"If today were your last, would you do what you’re doing? Or would you love more, give more, forgive more? Then do so! Forgive and give as if it were your last opportunity. Love like there’s no tomorrow, and if tomorrow comes, love again."

Embrace today gratefully my friends.

Love a little more than you planned.
Give a little more than you planned.
Share CHRIST a little more than you planned.
Forgive and bless a little more than you planned.

Seize today!
And if you get a tomorrow...
Do it again!

I love you ALL!
