START PAVING A NEW ROAD

Have you thanked Him?

Have you praised Him?

Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?

Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?

1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.

“If you don’t like the road you’re walking, start paving another one.”                                       ― Dolly Parton

Now before you double take over the “author” of this little quote let me explain a little.

I pen today’s DISPATCH from the cradle of the Smokie Mountains just outside Sevierville, Tennessee.  This area holds some significance and history for me.  My parents and I traveled down here from the time I was just a little boy.  Gatlinburg was a yearly destination.  The “Bearskin” motel with its bear-shaped pool, the “VILLAGE” and its little shops, candy makers and all the touristy stuff were a yearly tradition.

And today, even though the kitsch factor has exponentially advanced, this part of the country always brings back so many memories.  The music, the smells and the sights take me back to a time and place where my faith was forged.  In fact we used to attend the Gatlinburg church when we came down here on a Sunday.  The place is special.

So yesterday, we wandered into Dollywood.  Again, some might say cheesy, but Ian, Beth and I had a wonderful time.  It is a delightful place.

Yet while we were wandering through a little shop outside Dolly’s museum (yes she has a museum…we even walked through her tour bus) I noticed this little quote posted on some notebooks she was selling.

“If you don’t like the road you’re walking, start paving another one”

That is a great recovery and life quote.

It reminds us that today WE have a choice we road we travel.  It offers the hope that if we are walking a road that is leading to nowhere or a dead-end we can go another way.

It begs the question, which road do you wish to pave and walk?
Can I offer a suggestion?

Deuteronomy 5:33
…walk in all the ways which the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land…

Daily I sit with, share with, and talk with folks who believe they “can’t” change things; that the hand dealt is final and fatal, that the ROAD they are on is their destiny and not subject to rerouting.
Nothing could be farther from the TRUTH.

GOD is there.  GOD THE “MASTER-PAVER” is waiting to pluck you from the road to nowhere and begin paving HIS path to hope, joy, peace, and opportunity for you!

Isaiah 45:1,3
God’s Message to his anointed…“I’ll go ahead of you, clearing and paving the road…”

So ask yourself, is life’s road going nowhere for you or worse yet seemingly headed off a cliff?

STOP. Engage GOD and allow HIM today to begin to PAVE a new road for you!
HE WILL!

Proverbs 4:23

Keep your eyes straight ahead; ignore all sideshow distractions. Watch your step, and the ROAD (GOD’S NEWLY PAVED ROAD) will stretch out smooth before you.

I love you all!
Have a great day…
