T-SHIRT WISDOM

Have you thanked Him?

Have you praised Him?

Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?

Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?

1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.

You have to love the south.

The pace, the good (if even not so healthy) grub, the hospitality, and that sweet drawl that rolls off the local's tongues all are part of the magic that occurs when you traverse through the Bluegrass and over the Smokies.

And yes while Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg have been a little overrun with things like the world’s largest rubber band, rubber chickens or an “earthquake” ride or two, the charm of taffy pulling machine and a candle maker are not lost on this Ohio native.

Yet one thing is for sure, there are clearly more T-shirt shops per ca pita in this part of Tennessee than anywhere else on the globe. At least it seems that way.  And while all of the little sayings on them aren’t the ‘holiest’ by any stretch, there was one that caught my eye yesterday that deserved spot in the DISPATCH.

“Live your life in a way so that the preacher won’t have to lie at your funeral”.

Told you I love the south; that kind of in your face evangelism is not lost on these bible-belter's at all!

And while the little joke is a golden oldie, the message is on point.  It is our call to live a worthy life; one that not just the preacher could be proud of, but one that GOD will too be pleased.

Romans 12:1
…give your bodies to God. Let them be a living sacrifice, holy—the kind he can accept. When you think of what he has done for you, is this too much to ask?

1 Peter 1:14-16
Obey God because you are his children; don’t slip back into your old ways—doing evil because you knew no better. 15 But be holy now in everything you do, just as the Lord is holy, who invited you to be his child. 16 He himself has said, “You must be holy, for I am holy.”

So today’s little thought is as short and simple as its T-shirt inspiration.

Let’s go about our day today embracing that little homespun homily and make sure that the Pastor has at least one or two good things to say at the funeral.

Sound good "y’all"?

I love you all!
Have a great day…
