Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and
cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for
what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
The first thing I want you to do is pray.
Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.
After that most sacred of all July 4th
traditions, watching Joey Chestnut consume 74, yes 74 Nathan’s Frankfurters and
buns in 10 minutes had commenced, we were getting things ready for a little
cookout when another purely American thing popped up on ESPN 2.
It was a PROFESSIONAL Cornhole Event.
I can’t make that up.
They have a sponsor, Johnsonville of course, not
to mention fans, officials, the whole ball of wax.
And yesterday's matches were regaled in the kitsch of the holiday with Thomas Jefferson, Lady Liberty, the American Eagle, and BEN FRANKLIN
teamed up for some high-stakes cornhole action!
It was fun.
And to be honest, you wouldn’t want to run up
against any of the pros at the backyard barbeque or county fair.
But seeing Ben slinging his bean bags inspired me
to pull from the Franklin lexicon for today’s inspiration and I found a good
one.
When you get into a tight place and everything goes against you, till
it seems as though you could not hold on a minute longer, never give up then,
for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.
When you're down to nothing, God is up to something. The faithful see
the invisible, believe the incredible and then receive the impossible. – Benjamin
Franklin.
That is GOOD!
Real good.
For how many of us have been in that tight
place? All of us!
How many have felt that they couldn’t or can’t
hold on? All of us!
But as Ben reminds WE CAN hold on! We must never
give up!
There is a great saying in the recovery community,
“Don’t quit before the miracle happens”. And Ben gives the BEST of reasons WHY NOT
TO QUIT!
When the ODDS are so stacked, and you feel as if
you have nothing left, nothing in the tank, GOD is UP TO
SOMETHING.
That phrase is a favorite of my pal Pastor Jerry O’Brien,
a TIRELESS warrior for the GOSPEL and advocate for the addicted and their families! He believes it because he has EXPERIENCED the SOMETHING on many occasions.
But it is the closer of that little quote from Franklin
that ices today’s cake!
The faithful see the invisible, believe the
incredible and then receive the impossible.
WOW!
That should put a little pep in your step today!
That should encourage you to STAY FAITHFUL for the
MIRACLE, PATIENT for the INCREDIBLE, for the IMPOSSIBLE is just on the horizon!
For remember!
Life’s blessings drench the honest and
faithful person – Proverbs 28:20 (TPT)
and
(GOD) made the heavens and earth by great
power; nothing is too hard for HIM! – Jeremiah 32:17
HAVE A BLESSED DAY!
LOVE YOU ALL
OPPORTUNITIES
for HOPE
