BE LIGHT

Have you thanked Him?

Have you praised Him?

Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?

Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?

1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)

The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.

Sorry I missed you yesterday, it was an early start!

But I was so blessed by it!

I headed down to the Cincinnati area to participate in “The Addiction Crisis: A Catholic and Lutheran Response – at Good Shepherd Catholic Church.

It was a first of its kind event for both long-standing denominations who are seeking ways to link arms after the 500-year anniversary of the Protestant Reformation.

And as we opened the day in worship and prayer, this song, which I am sure was familiar to the attendees, was new to me.  It was called, “Christ Be Our Light”.
And I really liked the message.

Longing for light, we wait in darkness

Longing for truth, we turn to You.

Make us Your own, Your holy people

Light for the world to see.

Longing for peace, our world is troubled

Longing for hope, many despair.

Your word alone has pow'r to save us.

Make us your living voice.

Longing for food, many are hungry

Longing for water, many still thirst.

Make us Your bread, broken for others

Shared until all are fed.

Christ be our light!

Shine in our hearts.

Shine through the darkness.

Christ be our light!

Shine in Your church gathered today.

Isn’t that good?

It has an “old hymny” feel(especially with the pipe organ providing the accompaniment) even though it was just penned in 1993.  But given the tenor and goal of yesterday’s gathering of more that 300, it was a perfect REMINDER of our “job” as Christ-followers!

You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. – Matthew 5:14 (MSG)

I will tell you, I was and am MOST encouraged by what I witnessed and what was shared yesterday.  The breakout session that I hosted with my good friend Sarah Thompson provided a ROBUST discussion and engagement!  These folks are READY to be LIGHT!

Hence, the message today is clear.  We ALL are to be the light of CHRIST!  Allowing HIM and HIS light to shine in and THROUGH us is such a WONDERFUL privilege.

Let’s not hide it! Today is a great day for us, the CHURCH, to SHINE!

We are told to let our light shine, and if it does, we won't need to tell anybody it does. Lighthouses don't fire cannons to call attention to their shining- they just shine. - Dwight L. Moody

Have a BLESSED DAY!!!

Love all of you
