DEVOTION

Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.

"Our affection
Our devotion
Poured out on the feet of Jesus"

My worship Pastor Anna will tell you, some of the best lyric and hooks in a praise and worship song occur in the “bridge”.  This is a little bridge from a song called “Jesus We Love You”.
It is a great track.

Yet last night it was Sara one of our worship leaders at AHOP FREEDOM CHURCH that brought a unique perspective to the bridge lyric.
She reminded us of the times where two women POURED THEMSELVES and their TREASURES at the FEET of Jesus and they did so before HE HAD FULFILLED their salvation at the CROSS.

Theirs was a unique devotion; a devotion birthed by their experience and because of what they had seen and heard of JESUS. At that point Jesus had "done" nothing for them.

Sara then posed the tough question.

Given that we have “the CROSS”, given that CHRIST has poured eternal life into our lives with the sacrifice of His own, shouldn’t our devotion at the FEET of Jesus be that much more?

Remember:
Romans 5:6-8(MSG)
He (JESUS) presented himself for this sacrificial death when we were far too weak and rebellious to do anything to get ourselves ready. And even if we hadn’t been so weak, we wouldn’t have known what to do anyway. We can understand someone dying for a person worth dying for, and we can understand how someone good and noble could inspire us to selfless sacrifice. But God put his love on the line for us by offering his Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to him.
That demands a new LEVEL OF DEVOTION!

I was speaking with the brother of a friend on Sunday who made this comment to me, “Really think about HOW MUCH JESUS truly loves us”.  He wants none to perish.
2 Peter 3:9 (NIV)
9 The Lord … is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
And He gave His full measure of DEVOTION to us when we were of no use; while we were still sinners.

Shouldn’t that motivate us to action like those women?
Shouldn’t we pour ourselves at the FEET of JESUS daily in reverence, repentance and devotion?
Those questions only have one answer…
YES!

“The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.”
― C.S. Lewis

I love you all
