BE

Have you thanked Him?

Have you praised Him?

Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?

Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?

The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.

My son is in the 8^th grade and in Xenia that means he will be heading to Washington D.C. for the annual trip this year.  So while at the packing and itinerary briefing yesterday evening I noticed a little poster on the wall of the cafeteria and Warner Middle School.

B.U.C.S.  For those not from my little home town, Warner Middle School as well as Xenia High School is the home of the Buccaneers. (A.k.a. the BUCS).  And while that is pretty good in and of itself, it was the next 4 lines on the sign that I thought I would expand on a little as we prepare for today.

Be – Responsible

Be – Respectful

Be – Ready

Be – Real

That sounds like some good “being” to “BE” today don’t you think?

Be responsible today.

Romans 12:1 (AMP)

…present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship.

That is responsible living!

Be respectful.  That is easier said than done sometimes huh?  But something the LORD does encourage!

Romans 12:10 (ESV)

Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor.

Paul is setting the mark so far.  What about “being ready”?  Are you?

Ready to share your faith?

Ready to be light and salt to those you encounter?

Ready to hold a friend accountable?

Ready to…

…honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect…?  - 1 Peter 3:15 (ESV)

And last but not least by any means, be REAL today.

Keep vigilant watch over your heart; that’s where life starts. Don’t talk out of both sides of your mouth; avoid careless banter, white lies, and gossip. Keep your eyes straight ahead; ignore all sideshow distractions. Watch your step, and the road will stretch out smooth before you. Look neither right nor left; leave evil in the dust.  - Proverbs 4:23-27 (MSG)

It is a little surprising that a casual glance on a little sign could really provide a great guideline for today, but embrace it.

Be RESPONSIBLE today!

Be RESPECTFUL

Be READY and REAL.

Clearly GOD wants you to “BE” all of those things so…

…“Be who God wants you to be, not what others want to see.”

And if you do I believe you will find unity with the FATHER and build the character to BE a success!
