PROFESSOR JOY

Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.

Last night one of my dearest friends “Professor (and Doctor by the way) Joy” shared this little passage as a CHALLENGE to all of us who were supporting Safe Harbor in their annual gala and fundraiser.  If you don’t know WHO Safe Harbor is, check out www.safeharborhouse.org
It is an amazing anointed work in Springfield.

The passage Joy shared was Philippians 1:9-13 (ESV)

This was PAUL’S “motivation” of sorts to the Philippian folks.

…it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

What a CHARGE for all of us today; a prayer for today!

One:
Pray that YOUR love will ABOUND today!  Pray that those around you will know that you are a CHRISTIAN by the love you DEMONSTRATE.  Others are motivated when they SEE your LOVE for the Father in “action” not just words.  If we ABOUND in love, then folks will SEE it and HEAR it!

Holland once remarked:
“We have neighbors to bless, children to protect, the poor to lift up, and the truth to defend. We have wrongs to make right, truths to share, and good to do. In short, we have a life of devoted discipleship to give in DEMONSTRATING our love…

ABOUND in LOVE!

Secondly, Paul goes on to encourage us to grow in knowledge and discernment.  That comes with spending DEVOTED time with the Father.  Set aside a moment or two today.  Put down the remote.  Turn off the phone.  Set the social media aside.  Grab the Word.  Read.  Pause. Meditate.  Consume.  Listen. Discern.

Paul implies that when we do that we will be able to distinguish the ordinary from the EXCELLENT today.  Why spend time wallowing in the ordinary when GOD’S excellence is there for experiencing?
2 Peter 1:3
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence…

Lastly embrace the fruit that is the righteousness of GOD.
Walk in it.
Speak from it.
Embody and endorse it!
For when we do, GLORY will come to the Father and that is our HIGHEST calling; that GOD and CHRIST JESUS be GLORIFIED!

Changed hearts make righteous choices. God's objective in every one of our encounters with him is to produce changed hearts resulting in changed lives that bring praise and glory to his name.” – Rowlands

So friends the “assignment” for today is clear.  Professor Joy has spoken!

Abound in love.
Walk in the excellence of the Father.
Embrace and demonstrate His righteousness.
And bring GOD His much deserved glory.

Class dismissed!

Have a blessed weekend!
I love you all!
