THE CHASE is on!

Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
ARE YOU SEEKING?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.
What are you chasing?
Notoriety? Financial security? Entitlements?
What captures and keeps your attention, what motivates you?
Is it cash, cash, cash? Maybe it is the “ride”, or be honest is it “the high”? L
Life surely does present its options doesn’t it?
Buy “this” and you can expect “that”. Wear “this” and be the talk of the town. Achieve “this” and people will line up to see you.
Applause, pats on the back, the meetings at the mahogany tables, the “RUTH’s CHRIS” steaks, the “comps” in Vegas, being greeted by name at the end of the velvet rope.
The world sure does have its candy doesn’t it?
And it is really easy to get “caught up” in all of it. It is pretty. It does “feel”good, taste good, smell good, and often goes down real smooth.
But like candy, it has no real value. No nutrition. It doesn’t sustain.
Oh yes it does get the blood pumping and those proverbial juices flowing, but when rush has settled and the noise diminishes, what is there?
Not much. Trust me.
My wife Beth has had a hefty challenge in her life recently and while seeking GOD for “what to do next”,the perfect passage “happened” to be the next on her BIBLE on CD in her car while she was heading to a meeting to make a big decision regarding her future.
Oh don’t you just love the “randomness”of GOD. J
Deuteronomy 4:29
…you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.
But as she shared her experience from the car with me after she got home I went and checked out her passage.
It is a good one.
1 Timothy 6 (MSG)
…Pursue a righteous life—a life of wonder, faith, love, steadiness, courtesy. Run hard and fast in the faith. Seize the eternal life, the life you were called to, the life you so fervently embraced in the presence of so many witnesses.
13-16I'm charging you before the life-giving God and before Christ, who took his stand before Pontius Pilate and didn't give an inch: Keep this command to the letter, and don't slack off. Our Master, Jesus Christ, is on his way. He'll show up right on time, his arrival guaranteed by the Blessed and Undisputed Ruler, High King, High God. He's the only one death can't touch, his light so bright no one can get close. He's never been seen by human eyes—human eyes can't take him in! Honor to him, and eternal rule! Oh, yes.
17-19Tell those rich in this world's wealth to quit being so full of themselves and so obsessed with money, which is here today and gone tomorrow. Tell them to go after God, who piles on all the riches we could ever manage—to do good, to be rich in helping others, to be extravagantly generous. If they do that, they'll build a treasury that will last, gaining life that is truly life.
Paul is encouraging Timothy and US to USE OUR TIME here wisely; to invest in “faith things” and not get caught up in the glam, the glitter and the glitz which is “here today and gone tomorrow”.
Ambition and drive are wonderful qualities when they are directed appropriately. And as believers our TARGET has been clearly set; put our minds, energies, passions, and intent into pursuing GOD.
You know…
Mark 12:30
New International Version (NIV)
30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’[a]
For when we do we gain a life that is “truly life”.
Therefore what is the charge for the weekend my friends?
SEEK GOD.
LOVE GOD.
DO GOOD.
BE RIGHTEOUS.
ACT GENEROUSLY.
SEIZE LIFE!
The "chase" is on!
Have a blessed weekend!
I love you all.
