Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.
Galatians 5:25 (NIV)
Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.
This little passage was referenced by Pastor Rob McCorkle last night during the FAITH ENCOUNTER in Urbana, Ohio. He shared the story of a toddler he saw in an airport who was standing on the feet of his father. The father was holding his hands and as the father would walk so would the toddler. The toddler’s steps were in perfect alignment and coordination with that of the father.
Now couple that little visual with that passage and I think you can quickly see where today’s OFH is headed.
…”let us keep IN STEP with the Spirit”.
Just like that little toddler who was in lock step with his father as the wandered the airport so should we be in lock step with our FATHER each and every day. We should be willing to engage the Spirit, grab on with both hands, put our feet to His and “stay in step”!
Whatever you do [no matter what it is] in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus [and in dependence on Him] – Colossians 3:17 (AMP)
Our words, our deeds, “IN DEPENDENCE” on Him.
Staying in step with the Spirit is not reserved for “those ultra-spiritual people”, if we are all filled with the Spirit then walking in it should be the expected result.
Like the dad in the airport, when we allow the Holy Spirit to order our steps, He will lead us divinely and directly. That will more often times than not, lead us to the Word of GOD for DIRECTION, to prayer for INSPIRATION and to listening for REVELATION. And like the toddler, who likely wanted to journey out on his own, he was best served by staying on the feet on his father and with his hands in firm grasp with daddy’s.
Don’t forget friends, GOD is a gentleman as is the Holy Spirit, they will lead us directly only when we are open and accepting to the guidance; when we are willing hop on the Fathers’ feet to let Him do the leading.
Yet since God’s ways are perfect and His Word is proven, doesn’t STAYING in STEP just make the MOST sense?
Doesn’t staying in STEP offer the greatest guarantees for good decisions, blessed days and purposeful experiences?
It does.
So get in step today. Visualize yourself as that little toddler. Hop up on the feet of the Father and allow Him to order your steps.
Psalm 119:133 (NIV)
Direct my footsteps according to your Word; let no sin rule over me.
I love you all…
