HEART FULL OF GRACE - 1.19.2015

Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.
“Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
― Martin Luther King Jr.
Take a look at your calendar. If you have kids in Xenia they have already sang the praises of Dr. King as they snuggled up into bed knowing that school is “closed” today. Don’t try the bank either.
And while Dr. King for some is still a controversial figure, his dreams, his heart and the quote I shared above are not.
In fact his call above to SERVE was embodied by the highest of ALL authorities, Jesus HIMSELF.
Matthew 20:28
…the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
Service to OTHERS is powerful.
It can lift depression.
It can change perspectives.
It can transform individuals and communities.
It can restore ruined relationships.
It can advance FREEDOM! Which I why I believe Dr. King felt so strongly about its possibilities!
Galatians 5:13 (MSG)
…use your freedom to serve one another in love; that’s how freedom grows.
As we honor the life of Dr. King today, heed his encouragement.
Look around the sphere of your influence. Who can you serve?
Is there a family in need at the office?
Perhaps there is that person that you have noticed at church that looks downtrodden or distant. Reach out.
Maybe there is a family member with whom the relationship has been strained, is it time to take the humble first step toward reconciliation?
Maybe the homeless shelter team could use a night off?
Perhaps your famous meatloaf could make a difference?
The what is not half as important as the heart to do so!
Dr. King encourages us to a have a heart full of grace today. He reminds us that there are no qualifications needed to share grace and love; to serve.
Can you serve someone today?
“There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people up.”
I love you all…
Freedom Church
