"URGENT STUFF"

"URGENT STUFF"
Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.
Most of us spend too much time on what is urgent and not enough time on what is important.
I am guilty of this.
Everyday.
Because for me “urgent” can be relative. While "my urgent" can be taking care of an emergency, sometimes "my urgent” has to do with the desire to watch the big game. Just being real.
Truth is we all could use a little “re-prioritization” from time to time. And that sort of thinking and change often corresponds with the flip of the calendar to a new year. And GOD made things pretty simple when it came to “how to prioritize” our time and energies. His Word says “SEEK HIM FIRST” and let the other stuff play out accordingly. (Matthew 6:33)
And while this is no “revelation” by any stretch; especially for those of us who have been Christians for a while, it does present a daily challenge when it comes to application doesn’t it?
It doesn’t take much “urgent stuff" to move our eyes and activities away from those that “seek GOD” to those of less priority. It doesn’t take much “urgent stuff" to move our focus away from the “important”.
That is why it is so critical to “re-prioritize” each day the plan for it. And that starts with seeking GOD first.
I have shared this little quote in previous DISPATCH’S but it bears a little repeating today.
“When we put God first, all other things fall into their proper place or drop out of our lives. Our love of the Lord will govern the claims for our affection, the demands on our time, the interests we pursue, and the order of our priorities.” - Ezra Taft Benson
So here we are on January 6, 2015. I am sure some have made some “resolutions”. But today I want to stir your “RESOLVE”.
GOD reminds us that our time is short.
1 Timothy 4:4
…you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
And today if you are reading this then He has potentially granted you another 24 hours/1440 minutes/86400 seconds.
What do you hope to do with them?
Have you got a plan?
Have you established some priorities?
RESOLVE today to DO WHAT IS IMPORTANT not just what is urgent.
Ephesians 5:16-17 (ERV)
...use every opportunity you have for doing good, because these are evil times. So don’t be foolish with your lives, but learn what the Lord wants you to do.
SEEK HIM.
Prioritize Him.
And then leave the rest to HIS capable hands.
I love you all.
