FICKLE FEELINGS

Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
ARE YOU SEEKING?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.
“Man I am so angry.” “She hurt me.” “You just don’t know how I feel.” “I am just not feeling it anymore, Pastor.” “I deserve it given how I feel don’tcha think?”
Ahhh…those lovely emotions; those “feelings”…
One minute you are so “in love” that you can’t imagine one second not gazing into his eyes and the next you want to gouge them out. Or one second you are top of the world, flying high and rolling and “something” happens…client changes their mind, she called the old flame on your phone, or “they” pull the plug on your support and KABOOM you are in the pits.
Those fickle feelings…those fated frustrations…
You know we need to be “careful” with feelings.
We can’t give them reign in our minds or in our lives because THEY ARE so fickle and fallible. We know they are “hot” one minute and ice cold the next don’t we?
That is why the Bible encourages us to lean on wisdom rather than feelings.

Proverbs 4:6

Amplified Bible (AMP)
6Forsake not [Wisdom], and she will keep, defend, and protect you; love her, and she will guard you.
So ask yourself today.
Who is in charge of my feelings?
Is it you, or do you suffer from the unfortunate habit of letting other people—or stressful situations—determine the quality of your thoughts and the direction of your day?
If you’re wise (See Proverbs 4 J)—and if you’d like to build a better life for yourself and your loved ones—you’ll learn to control your feelings before your feelings control you.
Proverbs 14:30
A sound mind makes for a robust body, but runaway emotions corrode the bones.
Human emotions are highly variable, decidedly unpredictable, and often unreliable. Our emotions are like the weather, like Pastor Anna said just yesterday, snowing one day and 82 degrees the next. So we must learn to live by faith, not by the ups and downs of our own emotional roller coasters. We must cling to truth in times of trouble and do our best not to be marshaled around by our feelings.
Therefore guard your heart, watch letting how you “feel”dictate how you live.
And if you “feel” a “biggy” coming on…
...an old boyfriend calls, a sexy commercial gets the mind to wandering, or the Buckeyes get down by 15 and you ready to throw the remote into the TV only to have them come back and win and you are jumping around like Josh Robinson after a UK three pointer, get those feelings under control…reign them in.
But in all seriousness remember your emotions will inevitably change; God will not.
Lamentations 3:21-22
Yet this I call to mind
and therefore I have hope:
22 Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed,
for his compassions never fail.
So trust Him completely and you will watch those negative feelings slowly evaporate into thin air.
I live this one...
Our feelings do not affect God’s facts. They may blow up, like clouds, and cover the eternal things that we do most truly believe. We may not see the shining of the promises—but they still shine! His strength is not for one moment less because of our human weakness. Amy Carmichael
I love you all
