SNEAK IN A LITTLE SERVICE

Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.

Tuesday night I was honored to share the work of the JEREMIAH TREE and FRM (Freedom Recovery Ministries) with the folks from the XENIA KIWANIS.
As I scanned the group there were many familiar faces; lots of old friends.  In fact it was a good friend, no a dear friend Edgar, that had arranged the chance to share.

I love getting a chance to create awareness about the ministries but more importantly I embrace the chance to shed light on the needs of our community and inspire others to find ways to serve!

Now many of you may already know but the Kiwanis are dedicated to “serving”.
In fact their “SEVEN OBJECTS” are as follows…

·        To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life.
·        To encourage the daily living of the Golden Rule in all human relationships.
·        To promote the adoption and the application of higher social, business, and professional standards.
·        To develop, by precept and example, a more intelligent, aggressive, and serviceable citizenship.
·        To provide, through Kiwanis clubs, a practical means to form enduring friendships, to render altruistic service, and to build better communities.
·        To cooperate in creating and maintaining that sound public opinion and high idealism which make possible the increase of righteousness, justice, patriotism, and goodwill.

Those are GOOD “OBJECTives” wouldn’t you agree?

In fact before I had the chance to speak, the membership in Xenia were putting their money where their mouths were by blessing a single, currently RED CROSS sheltered, mother and her daughter with gifts for CHRISTMAS.

Serving others in love is what I saw.
And that aligns with our “OBJECTives” within AHOP’S FREEDOM CHURCH. “serve others in love for that is how FREEDOM grows” Galatians 5:13 (MSG).

So it was so refreshing to share about the “service” of the TREE with such a receptive and “lead by example” group.

But it got me to thinking.  There is no reason that each of us can't “sneak in a little service” each and every day.  This is the season of GIVING!  Why not give of your talents or resource to bless another?  That is what they are for!  That is what we are called to do with them!
1 Peter 4:10-11 (PHILLIPS)
Serve one another with the particular gifts God has given each of you, as faithful dispensers of the magnificently varied grace of God.

Jana Stanfield put it this way…
“I cannot do all the good that the world needs. But the world needs all the good that I can do.”

The WORLD has benefited greatly from the vision and service mindset of my friends from the Kiwanis.  Our local community has for sure. And just Tuesday one of the “least of these” was remarkable blessed by a few GOOD folks adhering to tenants like the GOLDEN RULE and rendering altruistic service.
Take their lead today.  Sneak a little service into your sphere!

The world needs your “good” too.

I love you all.
