PETER PASSAGE

Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.

2 Peter 1:3-10 (NLT)
…God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.

In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.

The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.

So, dear brothers and sisters, work hard to prove that you really are among those God has called and chosen. Do these things, and you will never fall away.

Yesterday I was in Vinton County on what some describe as “Holy Ground”,  the Refuge Phase 1 campus.  Tom Thompson shared this passage as an encouragement for the men and I found it to be a GREAT encouragement for us as we head into the weekend!

Read it again!
Now let's unpack it.

1. GOD has GIVEN us EVERYTHING to LIVE a GODLY life!  That is awesome huh?

2. GOD has given us some PROVEN promises that protect and can “keep” us from the WORLD’S corruption! That too is awesome!

3. GOD asks us to RESPOND to the PROMISE with moral excellence, character, self control, patience and affection to name a few.

The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence - Lombardi

We can do that can’t we?
Don’t GOD’S promises DESERVE that sort of response from us?

4. And IF we respond in this way, GOD will show favor, we will protect ourselves from “falling” away. (For you “recoverers” that is protection against relapse!)

Great passage as we embark on today isn’t it?
Reminds us of GOD’S goodness!
Gives us some clear direction!
And makes it clear how GOD will respond if we embrace the plan!

We will experience HIS promises!
We will be protected!
We will be steadied!

Take the passage to heart.
This is one of those “post-able” passages, something to read and remember at the start of each day wouldn’t you agree?

I love you ALL!
Have a blessed WEEKEND!
