Pump Painting

Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.
“You're never going to purify the water by painting the pump…”
Now that is a little nugget of truth huh?
But just how often each day do we reach for the paint brush?
Life may be falling apart but we paint on a countenance of “everything is fine” to hide the truth or mask the pain.
We paint the pump.
We may be wrestling with a real challenge (loneliness, confusion, uncertainty, anger, bitterness or fear) and instead of dealing with the issues we ignore them, sugar coat them, run from them or mask them.
You know paint the pump.
But GOD wants more than a fresh coat of paint from us.
Proverbs 21:2
We justify our actions by appearances; GOD examines our motives.
Galatians 2:1
…God isn’t impressed with mere appearances
God doesn't work from the outside in. He works from the inside out. God doesn't modify our behavior in order to change us. He changes us in order to modify our behavior. Yet far too often we believe that if we can keep things “looking good” on the outside that is enough.
But GOD knows what is behind the façade. GOD knows what is brewing under the surface and He wants to help.
Sadly many of us (me included) spend most of our time worrying more about our outer shell; appearances, other’s opinions, and perceptions than we do about what matters, our inner selves.
So here is a little challenge today. Put down the paint brush and if there are some things that could use some fixing on the inside, get real before GOD.
We all have some “ugly” under the surface. We all have some chipped spots and some blemishes. Let GOD fix those; stop covering them up.
James 4:7-10
So let God work his will in you…Purify your inner life.
Romans 12
…fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out.
Put down the paintbrush.
Have a blessed day.
I love you all.
