SWEET SPEECH

Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.
“We should ask ourselves three things before we speak: Is it true? Is it kind? Does it glorify God?”
Billy Graham
Old Billy hit that right on the head didn’t he?
This month, our Living Beyond Luck series is focusing on the importance of sowing good and positive things into our lives. It is a busy time for our farmers and it should be a reminder of the importance of diligent and “planting” for us as well.
Yesterday focused on "SPEECH SEEDS".
There is great power in the words we say. They can be used to encourage and edify or to discourage and damage. Therefore GOD has called us to use our tongues wisely!
Proverbs 12:18 NIV
Reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
We all have uttered those “reckless words” haven’t we; said things in anger or frustration and watched them cut to the quick of our target.Admit it. We have even bragged about how we “told them or showed them”.
I will be the first to admit it.Anger and reckless speech are “big challenges” for me. Just ask my family. But if we and me will heed the advice of Mr. Graham and take a pause before we verbalize we can perhaps produce more healing than harm.
Proverbs 16:24
Gracious speech is like clover honey— good taste to the soul, quick energy for the body.
GOD knows our tongue and speech cause us all kinds of trouble.
James 3:8
But no one can control the tongue. It is wild and evil, full of deadly poison.
That is why it is critical to allow GOD to form and shape our thoughts because as that old adage goes, “Our thoughts become our words…words, actions etc.”So if our thoughts and focus are on the FATHER then it is a likely progression that our words will follow suit! Want to control the tongue? It must start with our thoughts!
Will you join me today and make an effort to temper our tongues?Let’s commit to sweet speech and gracious communication.Let’s build each other up with words of support and reinforcement. Let’s couch our critical comments and haranguing dialogue.
As Pastor shared yesterday let’s…
Ephesians 4:31
Make a clean break with all cutting, backbiting, profane talk. Be gentle with one another, sensitive.
For...
Proverbs 21:23
Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble.
Let's sow some sweet and fruitful SPEECH SEEDS today!
I love you all!
