WILL GET BETTER

Have you thanked Him?

Have you praised Him?

Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?

Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?

1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)

^1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.

It is funny how “thematic” my ministry is at times. What do I mean by thematic? I will have weeks or maybe even a month when folks will ask me the same question or be wrestling with very similar struggles.

April was like that for me. And the struggle can be summed up in a little question.

“I gave my life to Jesus why aren’t things ‘better’?”.

Ever asked that question?

Many people think that life will be clear sailing after they get saved. Instead, they often find that life seems to be filled with more struggles than before. In my ministry we call this “coming back on the grid”.

Let me explain.

When we were neck deep in our sinful rebellion, our compulsions and selfishness, the enemy didn’t need to invest any time in us. We were already on board, on his side of the ledger. He had other "fish to fry".

Yet when we make a decision to follow Christ, then suddenly we get his attention. And remember, his attention has some severe implications.

John 10:10

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy

So the struggles are to be expected.

But don’t be discouraged! GOD is making things better for you even though it may not feel like it right now!

Psalm 37:18

God keeps track of the decent folk; what they do won’t soon be forgotten.

So don’t ever consider “going back” to the old days. The enemy is great at what we call in the recovery circles, “euphoric recall”. He is a master of deception and "fakery". He will do everything to trick you into returning to the "good old days" when sin had run of the house.

Remember he is a liar.

John 8:44

…he is a liar and the father of lies.

He will try to convince you the struggles you are facing are FROM GOD. Quite the contrary is true. He, his "crew" and this broken planet on which he scurries about are the causes for your struggles.

GOD understands this and HE is there to help you see those struggles for what they are; temporary inconveniences. faithfully providing you a way through them!

1 Corinthians 10:13

…God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it.

So stand firm friends in your new "savedness"! Let all the euphoric thoughts pass. You know where those thoughts and decisions lead. You have been there, done that and got the T-shirt as the old cliche' says.

And yes I understand, it's tough to be in a perpetual fight. But the STRUGGLE will be worth it! And things WILL GET better!

GOD promises that!

1 Peter 1:6-7

…even though you have to put up with every kind of aggravation in the meantime. Pure gold put in the fire comes out of it proved pure; genuine faith put through this suffering comes out proved genuine. When Jesus wraps this all up, it’s your faith, not your gold, that God will have on display as evidence of his victory.
