OPEN THE BOOK

Have you thanked Him?

Have you praised Him?

Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?

Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?

1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)

^1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.

She was so confused.

Childhood abuse continued to haunt her.

An old divorce was still stinging.

She was searching for options and for happiness.  And that journey had led her into some pretty rough neighborhoods and opened some pretty frightening doors.

She was losing her grip on who she was, what she was, where happiness might reside what to do and where to go next. Months of medicating the pain had taken their toll.  The liquor was proving ineffective, the joints less joyful and the loneliness and silence had become deafening.

She was shaky.

She was sad.

She was sullen and hope was nearly impossible to fathom.

Yet there she was in my office with expectant eyes and ears waiting for “the fix”, the answers and the hope!

It is those moments, those meetings when my context and experience are so deeply limited, that I am grateful that I can OPEN GOD’s BOOK and allow HIS WORDS to do the talking!

Psalm 119:130

The entrance and unfolding of Your words give light; their unfolding gives understanding (discernment and comprehension)…

For what I lack in discernment GOD offers clarity.

When my comprehension becomes limited GOD’S is limitless.

When my words run out of steam, GOD’S are bathed in energy and insight.

So that is why I am quick to OPEN THE BOOK!

For GOD’S WORD will shed miraculous and hope-drenched light onto these seemingly darkest of dilemmas and drama; offer insight into the awful and flawlessly reset the course!

2 Timothy 3:17

…Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another—showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God’s way.

Knowing this, it begs the question: if we know GOD’S WORD is so perfect and complete why do we go searching anywhere else for the answers to our challenges?

Why leave the BOOK dusty and closed?

GOD’S WORD is life!

GOD’S WORD is light!

GOD’S WORD offers hope!

GOD’S WORD heals!

Proverbs 4:20-22

...be attentive to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Let them not escape from your sight; keep them within your heart. For they are life to those who find them, and healing to all their flesh.

Therefore can I offer a simple encouragement? 

I don’t know if you too are facing a challenge like that I shared today.  But if you ARE, GO to the WORD.  Allow GOD to speak to you and into you today.  The answers and direction are there.  GOD is ready to open Himself to you and to your challenges.

All you need to do is open the book.

Proverbs 30:5

Every word of God will be put to the test and proven true; He is a defense for those who trust in Him.
