Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?

In recent weeks if I have had one conversation I have had 12 or 15 about “desperation vs. brokenness”.
Hardly a day goes by it seems when I don’t at least chat with someone who is in a desperate spot.

Too much month and not enough money is one.
Challenging and pressing relationship issues are another.
Addiction winning the day is a frequent conversation.

Addiction winning the day is a frequent conversation.
Yet it has been some of the discussions with the families and friends of addicted folks, not to mention those wrangling with the disease themselves as well as those who are ministering to them that this discussion between desperation vs. brokenness topic has come up.
Simply put:
Desperate situations often lead to conforming behaviors. While brokenness is a precursor to “transformation”; real change.

Why? GOD gets our situation, our desperation.
But GOD loves us BEST when we are broken.
That is not to say He doesn’t intervene for the desperate.
But GOD does do some of His best work with the broken.

And while I am clearly not the first to think it, it has been pressing on my heart and mind for some time.
GOD doesn’t wish for us to just conform; to punch the clock, check the “rules” box as we meander through life. Rather GOD wishes for us to come to the potter’s wheel malleable, changeable, surrendered to His hands and His plan each day.
Broken and spilled out as the old song suggests.
Yesterday I witnessed the difference between a man who at one time had “conformed” to recovery because he was desperate only to find himself back bound by addiction. He is experiencing REAL transformation this time around.
Why? He said it himself.
Instead of conforming in order to survive, he has asked GOD to break him daily so that he can THRIVE!
Instead of conforming in order to survive, he has asked GOD to break him daily so that he can THRIVE!
Hence daily he humbles himself before GOD.
He has realized that apart from GOD, his performance produces nothing, but surrendered to GOD, he is experiencing a fruitful walk and recovery!

John 15:5 (ESV
…If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
…If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
Let me ask you a few questions today.
Are you willing to be broken for GOD today? Are you willing to come to him just as you are for transformation?
Are you willing to be used of Him today in spite of your failures?
Are you willing to translate that desperation into brokenness before the Him?
Are you willing to be clay?
Are you willing to be used of Him today in spite of your failures?
Are you willing to translate that desperation into brokenness before the Him?
Are you willing to be clay?
Isaiah 64:8
Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter…
Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter…
“If through a broken heart God can bring His purposes to pass in the world, then thank Him for breaking your heart.” ― Oswald Chambers
Go ahead, be broken. The wheel is spinning. The Potter's hands are ready.
Let your transformation begin.
Let your transformation begin.
I love you ALL!
