GOD BREAK

Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.

“We can be tired, weary and emotionally distraught, but after spending time alone with God, we find that He injects into our bodies energy, power and strength.” ― Charles F. Stanley

Taking time to rest?
I know, I know there is no time!
Deadlines are looming! Projects are behind! Funding needs secured! The calendar doesn’t wait!
Progress or perish!

There is a lot going on all the time.
Events.
Work.
Kids.
In my line of work lately it seems that in addition to the “normal stuff” I am intervening or consoling someone on multiple occasions each day. This drug epidemic is rampant and I am starting to run out of things to say and I most certainly can’t explain it.

It can be a little draining.

I am confident you are facing your intense share of uphill battles, challenges, and wearying moments too.

It is why we MUST listen to Charles and be INTENTIONAL to GET AWAY!
Note I didn’t say RUN AWAY.  That is what I used to do when things got like they are right now.
I used to run away with my friends Belvedere, Kendell Jackson, and their cohorts.

No, I said GET AWAY.
Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. – Jesus (Matthew 11:28 MSG)

Recently I was getting the recap of my buddy Bekah’s recent vacation with her family in South Carolina and it sounded EXHAUSTING. Biking, beach volleyball, hikes, family Olympics or something like that, it didn’t sound “restful”. But Bekah said the vacation did afford her much some needed TIME WITH GOD and that truly provided the respite.

Is today a good day to take you a "GOD break”?
Is today a good day to turn off the phone for a little while and just “BE” with the Father?

I know it isn’t easy.
But it is needed!
It is crucial.
If there be anything that can render the soul calm, dissipate its scruples and dispel its fears, sweeten its sufferings by the anointing of love, impart strength to all its actions, and spread abroad the joy of the Holy Spirit in its countenance and words, it is this simple and childlike repose in the arms of God. - Gordon
“My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” – Exodus 33:14 (NIV)

Start small. – Block 15 minutes.
Put it in your phone to remind you.
When the alarm goes off don’t ignore it, embrace it.

Just yesterday I was so impressed by a CHAMPION partner who had set his phone to remind him to pray at 10:02 each day for GOD’s harvest (Luke 10:2 He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.)and he stopped everything and did just that.

So why not a reminder to take a “GOD break” to let GOD reinvigorate you body, mind and spirit?
Makes sense!

Remember:
“Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day, listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by no means a waste of time.” ― John Lubbock

Especially when that rest is ON and WITH Him.

I love you all.
