KIND WORDS

Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.

If someone were to pay you ten cents for every kind word you said about people and collect five cents for every unkind word, would you be rich or poor? ~ Braude

Ephesians 4:31-32 (LB)
Stop being mean, bad-tempered, and angry. Quarreling, harsh words, and dislike of others should have no place in your lives. Instead, BE KIND to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God has forgiven you because you belong to Christ.

Affirming or acerbic?
Kind or condemning?
Loving or loathsome?
Energizing or deflating?
Your words?

Our words are powerful.
The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences. – Proverbs 18:21 (NLT)

This season regardless of your political bent has been a WAR of WORDS.  The candidates have had moments of CARELESSNESS with what they have said and they have reaped the CONSEQUENCES.

And no I am not going to wade into political commentary today. Those are WORDS I don’t express well.  Rather I am encouraging us as those who follow CHRIST to remember the power of our words and the IMPORTANCE of being kind with them for they serve to define us as followers of CHRIST.

Paul eludes…
When our words are kind our actions will follow.
When our words are tender our actions will follow.
And it is our words and our actions that define our character.

"Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny."
~Lao-Tze

It is our words that determine which side of that equation Braude suggests we will find ourselves on.

So the encouragement today is a simple one.

Be kind with your words today.
Be gentle in your interactions.
Be thoughtful.
Allow your words help to define your actions toward others.
Allow your words to reveal and ELEVATE your character!

Remember:
A soft and gentle and thoughtful answer turns away wrath,
But harsh and painful and careless words stir up anger.
The tongue of the wise speaks knowledge that is pleasing and acceptable, But the babbling mouth of fools spouts folly.
Proverbs 15:1-2 (AMP)

And haven’t we heard enough of the babbling; the folly?

A Christian reveals true humility by showing the gentleness of Christ, by being always ready to help others, by speaking kind words and performing unselfish acts, which elevate and enable the most sacred of message... - E.G. White

Love you all…
