CAPITAL L

:
Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.
Jesus wants Life for us, Life with a capital L.
- John Eldredge
Don’t think so? Well, think again!
John 10:10
…I came so they (that is us!) can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.
Yesterday our congregation was given a bit of a charge by our senior Pastor, Mark. The charge was to INVEST 4 LIFE in 2014. In a nutshell he was challenging each of us to embrace making the most of life; this abundant life that Jesus has laid out for each of us. Her pressed us to lead a life marked by Jesus and committed to following Him; to no longer stay stagnant in old ways but rather use this NEW YEAR to grab a hold of the new possibilities that are found in Him!
Ephesians 4:22-24
…throw off your old evil nature—the old you that was a partner in our evil ways—rotten through and through, full of lust and sham.
23 Now your ATTITUDES and THOUGHTS must all be constantly changing for the better. 24 Yes, you must be a new and different person, holy and good. Clothe yourself with this new nature.
It is easy when January rolls around each year to make “commitments”to change. It is a different thing entirely to see them through. It takes discipline. It takes a fresh perspective and new thinking. It takes a willingness to be committed EACH DAY to making progress; to being determined to not allow the “old” to creep back in and contaminate the “new”.
1 Peter 1:14-16
…Don’t lazily slip back into those old grooves of evil, doing just what you feel like doing… let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God’s life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness. God said, “I am holy; you be holy.”
This abundant life is ours for the claiming, but it does require commitment on our part. Jesus wants the best for us. He always has. He has experienced the best of heaven and He wants us, His brothers and sisters, to do the same! Our job is to take that lead of CHRIST and…
…be pulled into a way of life shaped by God’s life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness, as Peter says!
Anne Graham Lotz says, “If you want purpose and meaning and satisfaction and fulfillment and peace and hope and joy and abundant life that lasts forever, look to Jesus. “
And that can start today.
Look to the one who came to give you “capital L” life!
Commit to making today a day that is shaped by the holiness of GOD; a day energetic in its pursuits of the Lord, and His way and truth.
Proverbs 4:25-27
Keep your head up, your eyes straight ahead and your focus fixed on what is in front of you.
26 Take care you don’t stray from the straight path, the way of TRUTH, and you will safely reach the end of your road.
27 Do not veer off course to the right or the left; step away from evil, and leave it BEHIND.
It is a new day! It is a new year! A new life is waiting!
Now it is your turn!
Make the investment in this life; this “capital L” life, this abundant life!
Have a blessed day!
I love you all!
