CHOICE IS YOURS

Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.
Deuteronomy 30:19
Today I am giving you a choice of two ways. And I ask heaven and earth to be witnesses of your choice. You can choose life or death. The first choice will bring a blessing. The other choice will bring a curse. So choose life!
Wednesday morning was an early one. I had an unusual assignment. I needed to be at the front door of the Greene County Jail at 6am in order to meet J.M. J.M was being released and as a favor to my jail partners, I was tagged with running J.M. to the GREYHOUND STATION so he could hop a bus south. I took along a buddy and we met J.M. bright eyed and bushy-tailed at 6am sharp.
The good news he really was a nice kid; an apparently good kid who had made a few bad life choices.
We had a nice ride and visit and both my and I friend were privileged to pray for him and hopefully set him on a path for some “better” life choices going forward.
But why share our little trip, this trip to the station?
I share it to remind us today how important it is to CHOOSE LIFE; to CHOOSE wisely; to CHOOSE to follow our Lord’s leading. GOD has clearly laid out the alternatives; death (sin) and life (obedience) in that verse above.
The rest is up to us.
That is what my friend and I prayed over J.M.
He had clearly struggled with his choices in the past and those choices were poor enough that he got to enjoy the comforts of Sheriff Fischer’s hotel. Yet before he stepped on to that bus, before the sun came up, he could begin to choose more wisely; more GODLY, more in tune with the SPIRIT. He was a believer. Now he needed to choose like one!
And while our choices may not land us in the hoosegow anytime soon, they do have lasting ramifications and need to be taken seriously. That is why GOD is imploring us to CHOOSE life; a life led by HIS Spirit and HIS truth, the life HE deeply desires for each of us; a life brimming with blessing and promise.
Isaiah 58:11
And the Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy you with all good things, and keep you healthy too; and you will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.
Perhaps you have been or are bound by the fallout of some past poor choices like J.M. And while you haven’t been physically incarcerated, the enemy has done his best to chain you up emotionally and spiritually.
Turn the tide.
Choose life over death and blessing over curse. YOU CAN! Bring it all to the CROSS and open your mind and heart to the SPIRIT. Begin to experience GOD’s wonderful and abundant LIFE!
Galatians 5:24-25
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified their sinful self. They have given up their old selfish feelings and the evil things they wanted to do. We get our new life from the Spirit, so we should follow the Spirit.
The choice is yours!
Have a blessed weekend…
I love you all!
