Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.
Ever have a day where it feels like the enemy is winning?
Maybe it is a personal struggle or hurdle that you just can’t seem to shake. Maybe you are like me and had a little bout of untimely selfishness as the sun set and it damaged the day.
Or maybe it is not so much you but everyone you encounter is being overwhelmed.
Yesterday was one of those days on both fronts for me.
The day kicked off with a fella who slept between the bushes in front of his mother’s apartment only to have her call the police and have him removed for trespassing. He wants to get help but the help is being delayed. Pray for JJ.
Then later a friend staggered into my office in horrible shape. He was intoxicated, sad, angry, confused, and desperate all at the same time. He hates himself. Pray for JC.
Then the day wrapped with a homeless 19 year old little girl whose parents had cashed out. leaving her alone. Pray for MA.
In between there were several more being oppressed with financial challenges and relational struggles; others trying to unpack the perplexing quandary of purpose. Still a couple more that were so beat up it showed on their faces.
All I could think of was this…
John 16:33
In this godless world you will continue to experience difficulties…
Jesus wasn’t kidding.
Maybe you had a day like that yesterday. Maybe yours has lasted a week? Maybe the difficulties stopped in months ago and have decided to move in.
Don’t get discouraged! As hopeless and challenging as everything may seem, GOD is still GOD.
Isaiah 41:10 ESV
Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
GOD’S strength and help, uplifting and righteousness, presence and peace are all there for the claiming. Join me in claiming it today!
Never forget the enemy wants to blind us to this truth by making the challenges so huge, the struggles so massive and the hopelessness so vast that there seems no way past, through or over.
But regardless of how hard the enemy may try, the truth will always prevail. Remember what Jesus said on the tail end of that "difficulties decree".
John 16:33 (cont)
…But take heart! I’ve conquered the world.
That is the TRUTH!
So friends we may continue to have days when the enemy brings his best. But never forget his best is no match for our GOD.
1 John 5:4 ESV
For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world.
AMEN!
I love you all!
