THAT "GLINT"

Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
1-3The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.
I had a session with a woman yesterday that was “one of those good ones”. True, she has stopped in looking for some practical help but after she left, she had no idea how much she had inspired me. For as we were attempting to help her she reminded me just how amazing Jesus really is.
You see this lady had been through so much.
A lifetime of addiction.
A personal loss.
Lot’s of relational turmoil and hurt.
She was hampered by poor health; the consequences of some previous poor choices.
Yet there she was, fighting.
Her ailment wasn’t going to keep her down. Her past suffering was not going to rob her of present possibilities.
Her addiction was something deep in her past; long gone thanks to Jesus.
She was resolved to making good choices both personally and relationally and our help was one more step in that “right” direction.
She was smiling.
She was positive.
She had “that glint” as I like to call it.
That“glint” is something that GOD let’s me see from time to time in the eyes of my clients and church.
That“glint” is hope.
That“glint” is possibilities.
That“glint” comes from new mercies, new grace, new options, and new life!
That“glint” is JESUS.
And from time to time when I really get to look into the eyes of my clients, into the eyes of those in my church; I am inspired by the “glint”.
For in spite of all she had been through, in spite of lungs riddled with emphysema, a heart struggling to pump due to COPD, in spite of limited funding and options and a tattered resume of failed relationships she still had the “glint”. Even in spite of the loss of a child; her “glint”remained.
Hope and possibilities were in charge rather than depression or despair.
And as we shared and prayed our conversation never once dwelled on the wreckage of her past, but only on the hope of a wonderful future in CHRIST!
Proverbs 23:18
…surely you have a wonderful future ahead of you. There is hope for you yet!
Why tell the story of this one?
It is merely to ask this question.
Do you have that “glint”?
Can you go to the mirror and see that hope, those possibilities, that wonderful future? Or are you eyes dulled from worry and doubt. Are your eyes filled with wonder and expectation or has negativity, chaos and worldly fatigue muted their brilliance?
Be honest with yourself.
And if you have lost that little “glint”, let’s go and get it back!
Let’s clear our sights and allow our eyes to reflect the hope that is in Jesus!
Proverbs 10:28
The hope of the righteous brings joy…
In other words, hope restores that "glint"!
For my new friend proves that no matter how tough the challenge or how difficult the circumstance, Jesus is always right there to bring back that “glint”!
Romans 5:3-5
We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they are good for us—they help us learn to be patient. And patience develops strength of character in us and helps us trust God more each time we use it until finally our HOPE and FAITH are strong and steady. Then, when that happens, we are able to hold our heads high no matter what happens and know that all is well, for we know how dearly God loves us, and we feel this warm love everywhere within us because God has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
So let’s learn a lesson from her and resolve to not allow life’s circumstances to dull your hope or dim your possibilities.
Instead commit to recapture that “glint” with eyes focused and fixed and on Jesus and restore the HOPE that is truly Him!
I love you all!
