Have you thanked Him?
Have you praised Him?
Have you made it your priority to agree and cooperate with Him today?
Have you taken that deep breath and listened for what He has for you today?
1 Timothy 2:1 (The Message)
The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.
You have a God who hears you, the power of love behind you, the Holy Spirit within you, and all of heaven ahead of you. If you have the Shepherd, you have grace for every sin, direction for every turn, a candle for every corner and an anchor for every storm. You have everything you need. - Max Lucado
Since we are in Texas this week I thought I would quote from some TEXAS Pastors to serve as inspiration for the OFH.
So today (and tomorrow’s) will be Max.
Many of you know about my affinity for Max Lucado. Max’s book “IT’S NOT ABOUT ME” was and continues to be instrumental in my recovery journey. I even had the distinct honor to meet Max a few years back when he paused in Dayton during another book tour.
So, let’s unpack Max’s TEXAS-sized encouragement for us for today.
First, we HAVE A GOD WHO HEARS US today! So, let’s pray.
Prayer is our way of connecting with God in all life’s circumstances. God is ALWAYS listening. We can talk to Him any time throughout the day. We can take a lead from Billy Graham.
The day before Billy Graham’s interview in 1982 on The Today Show, his director of public relations, Larry Ross, requested a private room for Graham to pray in before the interview. But when Mr. Graham arrived at the studio, his assistant informed Ross that Mr. Graham didn’t need the room. He said, “Mr. Graham started praying when he got up this morning, he prayed while eating breakfast, he prayed on the way over in the car, and he’ll probably be praying all the way through the interview.” – From a 2015 “DAILY BREAD”
Second, we have the POWER of LOVE behind us!
nothing in the whole created world—will ever be able to separate us from the love God has shown us in Christ Jesus our Lord. – Romans 8:39 (ERV)
WOW!
And lastly for today (we will come back tomorrow and unpack the 2nd half of that powerful quote), we have the HOLY SPIRIT within us!
when the Father sends the Comforter instead of me*—and by the Comforter I mean the Holy Spirit—he will teach you much, as well as remind you of everything I myself have told you.
John 14:26 (TLB)
What a trifecta!
GOD’S EAR!
GOD’S LOVE!
GOD’S SPIRIT!
And all of them are poised and at the ready for us today!
The question is will we when faced with the challenges of today pause to pray, remember that GOD’S LOVE is an overcoming and powerful love?
And will we lean on GOD’S Spirit to remind us to pray and of GOD’s love?
Have a blessed day.
I love you all.
